For John "JR" Robinson's second Signature Snare drum, we developed a birch/maple snare with a
14" diameter and 6.5" depth. Though mainly birch, it features a gorgeous bird's eye maple ply and
an Amber Sunburst finish. Of special note are 20 Copper nails that are embedded in the 60 degree batter bearing edge to create the unique sound John "JR" Robinson requests. The sound is sharper and tighter than that of a wood shell and to complement this crisp response there is a 35 degree resonant bearing edge with 25 strand hi-carbon steel snare wire. Zinc die-cast dark chrome hoops
are specified and the addition of the Maple Custom style small lugs makes
this design even more unique!

SHELL: Birch/Maple 7-ply with 20 copper nails embedded in bearing edge

FEATURES:

Thin, Large Diameter 15-inch All Birch Shell John "JR" Robinson requested an all birch shell with
a large, 15-inch diameter and 5-inch depth. He also asked that it be made thin-four plies thin. A unique request it was but the resulting snare was one that delivered a powerful sound with sharp response. Four-ply reinforcements on both edges are utilized to supply the necessary strength while providing a well-centered core to the snare's sound. Adding beauty to the shell's exterior is a polymer layer of White Gold.

WOOD HOOPS:

We utilized our all maple 19-ply (10 hole) wood hoops to add their rich, warm flavor and powerful rim shots to the drum.

25 STRAND SNARE AND 2.7mm WIDE SNARE BED:

To get a larger, more sensitive snare sound we added 5 more hi-carbon steel strands to the usual 20 for a 25 strand snare. Also, the snare bed was increased from the usual 1.8mm to 2.7mm to inhabit any influence from the sympathetic vibrations produced by surrounding drums.

SMALL LUGS:

Small, specially chrome-plated lugs were selected for their minimum lug to shell contact to obtain maximum sound out of the shell while precision-machined lug nuts inside their casings superior performance.

NEWLY DESIGNED REMO HEAD:

For the top head we chose a newly designed Remo Emperor coated with dot type head and matched it with Remo's Ambassador Snare on the bottom for a sharp and solid sound.

STRAINER:

The drum is fitted with our H-type strainer on the release side and our G-type strainer on the butt side. Both strainers feature small footprints to provided (Features subject to change without notice)
